Other Characters?

I have been thinking about how to showcase the other characters without having to fully animate them, so that it doesn’t distract the main character’s story too much as well as making it easier for myself, time and skill wise, to not have to animate other characters fully.
I was thinking some of the shots could be shown from the wife’s POV, the other characters could be looking off camera. They could be shown via shadows, just their hands or body, or even low angles so we only see their feet. I’m using Roger Rabbit, the loud house and Powerpuff girls as reference.
I have been having some trouble with the short story format, I need to be making sure that it doesn’t turn into a feature film summary. So, I might would be taking this this into further consideration when I write the script/do the storyboard.
I am also a little worried about representation. Given that I am not a man/the only exposure I have to this kind of male experience is through film, tv and the people around me, I worry those representations may be exaggerated. To resolve this, I have been constantly checking in and asking for feedback with the guys around me. I did this with multiple age groups, from elderly, to middle aged and teens. Making sure that this is how they might feel or feels relatable, and is not just an exaggeration or a hyperbole. :)
