I had kept all my video files in a folder, with all the footage and animations labelled. This made it so much easier to look for specific shots or frames. Also helpful for not mixing up the previously edited animation with the unedited.

I used CapCut as my main software. I did consider using Adobe's After Effects as that was the common editing software for animations, but I wasn't familiar with the platform and was very much overwhelmed by its interface.

When I was editing my rough cut, I was using CapCut web, but it was quite difficult to use due to the lack of navigation and only working on mobile previously. I wasn't able to find a lot of features and transitions/the features that would usually be free were paid. So I switched to CapCut desktop, which was basically downloading the app onto my laptop instead of working out of a website. The program ran much more smoothly and I was able to access so many more features. Including chroma key background removal.

Then I just starting compiling all the footage following my storyboard.

I had added the different titles for the title sequence. Using the Albura font as it looked professional and elegant, but also playful and not too serious. Keeping everything at the same font size so it looked cohesive.

After that, I added the overlay of the title card. I had exported that as an PNG with a transparent background from Procreate after testing a bunch of different ways to handwrite the title. Adjusting it so the apostrophe matched where the paint drop was going to be.

Then I added the ending credits, I used the Arial font as I wanted this part to be clear and sharp. It shouldn't be too attention grabbing, but more of an ending. Timing the ending credits with the end of the music.

Lastly, I added the title again, but because there was an animation to it, it was slightly more tedious as I wasn't able to import videos with a transparent background. I had to use the freeze tool to prolong the title for a moment to match the beat of the music and the chroma key BG remover tool so only the title could be seen.

The animation was done by screen recording my iPad. I had the title card on a black background, then I drew on top of it to cover the word 'don't.' Then I had to export that as an MP4 and use the chroma key to remove the background.

Though after this when I switched everything over to web, I was able to import my animations with a transparent background in the HEVC format which was mildly frustrating.

Using Capcut, I had access to a lot of filters and easy colour grading. I did so for a few of the shots, editing the intensity of the colour filter and the overall lighting contrast.
