Animation test with Gary

I had done another animation test on Procreate with Gary blowing out candles on a birthday cake. I wasn’t sure if this scene was going to be in the final, but I did like the composition of this. This positioning was how I initially planned the life montage to look like.
Anyways, this animation test was relatively simple and took me about half an hour to complete. I drew six frames, trying to keep Gary’s characteristics consistent. I had learnt something called ‘anticipation’ (a principle of animation where it basically talks about the “wind up” of an action) and tried to apply that here. I made Gary’s head smaller to look like he’s taking in a big breath, then his head bigger when he’s blowing out the candles.
In the future when the storyboard is finished, I think I should break each scene into individual files just so Procreate does not crash as I’m working and that it will be easier to compile when it comes to editing. I might also make it like an animatic, where I don’t animate every scene, but the vital scenes. I’ve shown other people this short animation and the feedback have been pretty positive so far. Saying the animation style isn’t too disruptive and blends into it quite well.
